Adult audience, 13 years +
At a funeral dinner, amid the clinking of glassware and the music of an orchestra, instead of saying farewell to his family and friends, the deceased comes back to life.
In this skilful and savoury blend of object theatre and live music, waiters and guests transport us to a madcap puppet cabaret of explosive sounds, steeped in the Russian realism of Tolstoy’s masterpiece, Anna Karenina.
Accordion, percussion, strings, and voice revisit this monument of Russian literature in a masterful, surprising, and electrifying manner. The audience will be transformed!
- KAR was nominated for Best Act of the Year, Alternative and Puppet Theatre – Theatre News Prize (Cena divadelních novin, 2016)
At first glance, a rather disconcerting show, but buoyed by a spellbinding musical score and sprinkled with moments of puppeteering poetry. Original and truly entertaining: a success!
– Mathieu Dochtermann, Toute la culture
Language: English
Running time: 60 minutes
Techniques: Object theatre, live music

Active since 2004, the Fekete Seretlek musical group repurposes, modifies, and mixes motifs from world music, creating its own original compositions. The six members combine their wide-ranging experience in music, song, drama, circus, and puppetry, giving rise to genre-bending musical theatre.
Damúza was founded in 1999 by a group of students from DAMU, the Academy of Performing Arts, in Prague. Today, Damúza operates as a production unit to support both emerging artists and ambitious projects by DAMU students and recent graduates. Damúza is known for its original productions, particularly in puppetry, art, and object theatre, for both children and adults.
