Julie Desrosiers is a puppeteer with a visual arts and scenography background. She designs, constructs and manipulates visual worlds to further her artistic research and provoke encounters between various art forms, objects and manipulations.

Julie Desrosiers’ work is always intimately related to her puppetry practice, a broad and malleable medium that she strives to explore in all aspects of its definition. With her project Récits, she presents a series of tableaux where raw or more domesticated matter interact to form and deform narratives, suggesting their own dimension of the living.

In her assemblages of elements, whether natural, artificial, makeshift or whimsical, she creates contexts for encounters that explore troubled feelings, and also encounters that foster listening and openness to different non-human languages.
