Walkabout exhibition for all
In Outremont borough shop windows

Exhibition curator : Pavla Mano

In keeping with the theme of the 21st edition, this walkabout exhibition takes over Outremont’s shop windows to showcase object theatre.

This year, the exhibition honours Théâtre de la Pire Espèce, a pioneering company of this discipline in Québec, with a selection of puppets, objects, and scenographic elements emblematic of the company’s work. The exhibition provides a glimpse into an artistic universe where objects become powerful vehicles of meaning and storytelling.

Since their beginnings in 1999, when they first performed their famous adaptation of Ubu Roi, featuring breadstick soldiers, a lisping teapot, and a dish mop that is smitten with a hammer (Ubus on the table), La Pire Espèce has made a name for itself on the Québec and international performing arts scene.

Impertinent, festive, and accidentally erudite, the company has brought everyday objects to life through its 26 original works. The Marionnettes en vitrines! walkabout exhibition showcases some of these memorable and unclassifiable characters.
