Discussion of works-in-progress
Adults, 13 years +
Part of Café-causerie: Budding Creations! Discovering works-in-progress…
In a casual setting, four creative teams present their works-in-progress and take questions from audience members eager to learn more about the various stages in the development of a puppet show.
Klondike
At the dawn of the Klondike Gold Rush in the late 19th century, a young Yukon woman discovers a gold vein. Accompanied by her ox, which serves as both her pack animal and her transportation, she must journey across rivers, plains, and mountains to return home. Amidst the unspoiled wilderness and plagued by various run-ins with wildlife, her journey ultimately leads her on a profound personal quest. A reflection on our current materialistic lifestyle, Klondike reminds us that happiness can be found in the simple act of being alive, of breathing, and of marvelling when faced with the forces of nature that we are sometimes confronted with.

Company
A collective of artists from Québec, La ruée vers l’or specializes in creating puppet shows for teen and adult audiences that feature live music and sound effects. The collective draws inspiration from the worlds of genre cinema, comic books, object theatre, and storytelling. Their performances are rhythmic and are characterized by a communicative enthusiasm, a great aesthetic sensibility, a genuine synergy with the audience, and a generous dose of humour and humanity. Pommes de route and Arctic Tall Tales have toured throughout Québec, Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Europe. Klondike is currently in the process of being created.
