To mark the 40th anniversary of this renowned puppet theatre company from Montréal, the festival presents some of the celebrated characters who helped to write its history and delight thousands of children. Puppets, props and posters reflect artistic director André Laliberté’s vision as well as the talent of all those who have contributed to the company’s reputation.
During its 25 original productions, the company has given voice to many contemporary playwrights, whose words have been transformed by puppetry and innovative theatrical devices. A touring company from the very beginning in 1973, Théâtre de l’Œil’s artists and artisans have received awards and praise across the globe: from small towns to big cities, to countries and continents… and to a world of discovery.
