What if we went back to the age of kings. . . in Italy?

In L’Enlèvement du prince Charles (The Abduction of Prince Charles), an old king who witnesses his son’s disappearance and orders all his servants and soldiers to search for him throughout the kingdom.

Fagiolino, courageous and mischievous, and an emblematic character from the Italian commedia dell’arte tradition, also embarks on this quest, guided by the mysterious fairy Circé (Ciuciafurmighe). His adventure takes him to the Forest of Gale, where Prince Charles is held captive by the fearsome bandit Spaccateste and his accomplice Gigolante.

As he tackles twists and turns, trickery, and surprising encounters, will Fagiolino manage to defeat the villains and bring the prince safely back to his father? A show full of humour and suspense, where courage, ingenuity, and a few well-aimed whacks with a stick make all the difference!

Company

Teatro del Drago is lead by the Monticelli family, puppeteers who have passed down their skills from father to son over five generations, carrying on the tradition of string marionettes, hand puppets, and rod puppets since the 19th century. Brothers Mauro and Andrea, the company’s current artistic directors, are developing Teatro del Drago’s activities in two main areas: tradition, with classical performances and the preservation of the Monticelli Collection, and research, through contemporary puppet theatre exploring original materials and techniques.
