What remains of a story that no one has ever told?
VIVA ! is the moving story of a Spanish family torn apart by civil war and the Franco dictatorship. On stage, a nondescript desk. In its drawers, everyday objects—chalk, adhesive tape, stapler, pencil sharpener—become the unlikely witnesses to a profoundly human story. They come together, are transformed, and gradually piece together a shattered past.
Through the tragic fate of Pepe and Maria, the grandparents of one of the show’s creators, VIVA ! takes us to a village in Castile, where a man, scarred by the trauma of war, ends up committing the irreparable.
Combining object theatre, subtle humour, and poignant drama, VIVA ! brings to light an intimate and collective memory. The show gives voice to a silent tragedy—that of a femicide committed under Franco’s regime—and transforms a family story into a vibrant tribute to the women who were not heard.
Language: French

Company
La Loquace, a Franco-Spanish theatre company, was founded in 2021 by Lisa Peyron and Daniel Olmos. Both discovered object theatre with Katy Deville, co-founder of Théâtre de Cuisine (France), one of the pioneering companies practising this genre. This encounter led to VIVA !, La Loquace’s first production. Since then, the company has been invited to perform at major European festivals, where it has been met with critical acclaim.
