At the crossroads of documentary, movement and object, VAGUES is an invitation into the intimate universe of a creator and her unique relationship with water: her childhood on a boat, her deep-sea dives, the death drive, and the desire to never resurface.

Through these various waves, a portrait of an unusual initiatory journey is woven. To tell this story of water, a circular “lake” of one-way mirrors is strewn across the floor. These impudent mirrors, handled firmly, bring this spellbinding story of water to life.

Company

Established in Montréal in 2020, Synthèse Additive is the result of a meeting of multidisciplinary artists from the graduate program in contemporary puppet theatre (DESS) at UQAM. The company claims to take a resolutely contemporary approach to theatre of matter.

Created in 2016 and taking a name in the manner of a Dada farce, the Les Nouveaux Ballets presents the multidisciplinary work of artist Amélie Poirier. She presents shows for teenagers and adults along with those for children, and more recently has also produced shows for public spaces. Above all, dramaturgical meaning shapes the contours of each show. The body/object relationship is at the heart of the company’s creative process.
