NORTH AMERICAN PREMIER

This show, brimming with poetry and exceptional technical mastery, is based on four texts by the great Swiss surrealist painter, sculptor and writer Alberto Giacometti. Hôtel de Rive plays with time and explores different periods of Giacometti’s life, transforming his complex work into a timeless space where image and performance art are intertwined with literature. The captivating scenes are as enigmatic, mysterious and fascinating as the artist’s soul. Two musicians illuminate these interior landscapes in their own unique way: with whispering alphorns and shells, and jingling bells.

Hotel Rive marks a new research phase for Figuren Theater Tübingen, in collaboration with the French company Bagages de Sable and the Swiss Stadelhofen Theatre, as they combine words, sounds, materials and movement.

This show is presented with the support of the Goethe Institut, Prohelvetia (the Swiss Arts Council) and the German Consulate General in Montréal.
