PREVIEW

Nine-year-old Mia and her trusted sidekick secretly get ready to go off and explore the world. With their hockey helmet and flashlights in hand, a loaded back pack and a stuffed rabbit, they train as best they can, teaching themselves not to miss their loved ones and to sleep without being afraid of the dark… We soon realize that their travel plans are also a means of escape; escape from the heartbreak of a friend’s betrayal that has left open wounds. But can we really leave our troubles behind? Is adventure really where we think it’s going to be?

Company

Théâtre de l’Avant-Pays was established in 1976 by a group of puppeteers from Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and actors from the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe theatre program.

Throughout its history, the company has endeavoured to question the specificities and the multifaceted nature of the puppet medium. Over the past 40 seasons (1976–2016), it has given some 4,000 performances and reached more than 800,000 spectators.
